Dr. Devraj Chavda is a board-certified pediatric neurologist and epileptologist dedicated to advancing care for children with complex neurological disorders. Currently practicing in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Chavda is recognized for his expertise in epilepsy, neurogenetics, and rare neurological diseases.
He is the Founding Director of Nevada’s first Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, providing advanced diagnostic and treatment options for children with seizure disorders. Additionally, he has played a pivotal role in expanding genetic therapy programs, establishing the state’s first Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) gene replacement programs at UMC and Sunrise Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Chavda is an advocate for newborn screening initiatives, serving on Nevada’s Newborn Screening Advisory Committee, where he was instrumental in adding SMA and adrenoleukodystrophy to the screening program. His research contributions focus on improving diagnostic pathways for neurological orphan diseases, many of which remain untreated due to limited therapeutic options.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Chavda is actively involved in medical education and research, serving as Site Director for multiple adult neurology residency programs and hosting international physicians for pediatric neurology training in Las Vegas. He is also an Advisory Board Member for the Epilepsy Foundation (Las Vegas Chapter) and collaborates with the Hundley Foundation to support epilepsy awareness and patient care.
Dr. Chavda earned his medical degree from M.P. Shah Government Medical College in India before completing his pediatric neurology residency and fellowship training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He further specialized in epilepsy at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
